A Message from your Publicity Director and Development Director

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Dear friends, listeners, donors, supporters, etc:

WCBN has recently been granted permission to increase our transmitter power. This is excellent news! However, now we have to figure out how to pay for it. One avenue we must take is to ask the University for more money. Since we know this will be a very tough sell, we need all the help we can get convincing them how important WCBN is to students and community alike.
We appeal to all friends of WCBN- no matter what your connection is- to help us.
We are calling for testimonials from any and all WCBN DJs, hosts, devoted listeners, and hanger-ons expressing how WCBN is absolutely vital to the continuation of free expression, education, and arts&culture in Ann Arbor.
Send a message of any length to our testimonials mailbox.

Please take a minute and submit a testimonial.

It can be a paragraph or just a few sentences.

Some questions you may ask yourself include: why is WCBN important to me personally? How does it benefit Ann Arbor, U of M, the Ann Arbor arts community? How does the station function as an important educational resource for the community? What makes WCBN a unique and vital cultural institution?

We would love if you could give a specific story or example that illustrates WCBN's function/importance. In addition, if anyone is sitting on WCBN artwork or past fliers, odds-n-ends, or knows where historical artifacts are hiding (we do have many on file) please contact us.

We are asking you with utmost urgency to express your love and concern for the station. You can send your testimonials to testimonials AT wcbn DOT org or leave a voicemail at (734) 418-8420.

Another request we have for THE GREATER WCBN COMMUNITY IS: PLEASE PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS CALL TO ARMS. An artist who has played a live set on your show? Cash in your favor chips and ask him/her to write a paragraph. A WCBN-loving friend who still owes you a beer? "DUDE, don't worry about the five bones, write me a quick paragraph about the station!"

ANYONE! ANY LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS/EMPLOYEES THAT PLAY WCBN, ANY CABBIE THAT HAS THE STATION BUMPIN', AND ESPECIALLY, TO ANY AND ALL WCBN ALUMNI. IF ANY OF YOU OLDER-GENERATION WCBN FOLK HAVE CONTACT INFORMATION of a DJ ALUM, PLEASE DO PASS IT ALONG.

Thank you all so much for your dedication and support.

Sincerely, Eleanor Dumouchel (Publicity & Promotions Director)
Bennett Stein (Development Director)
